MILFORD – Marian topped Cranbrook by 15 overall points to capture back-to-back Catholic League ski titles Monday at Alpine Valley.

Bianca Bologna of Cranbrook took the overall championship in giant slalom (38.63), but Marian placed four skiers in the top ten to more than distance themselves from runner-up Cranbrook.

Borgula avenged her second place finish in GS with an overall win in the slalom. With a combined time of 43.05, she edged Bolgna of Cranbrook.

Klein was fourth place in slalom with a time of 45.83. Lowman was one place behind, in fifth (46.91). while Paige Rawlins also finished in the league's top-10 with a combined slalom time of 48.03. All four skiers earned all-Catholic team honors.

"The good is this past weekend's slalom combination drills and start drills showed up in a fantastic way for several of us," said head coach Mark Weymouth. "Especially our starts all day.  We had several girls clearly ski their personal best slalom races.  We skied some giant slalom runs that were as good as we have seen and our starts certainly helped there too."

With a combined finish score of points, Cranbrook finished as runners-up while Mercy (82) was third and newcomers St. Mary's (116) was fourth overall.

The team will jump right back into action on Tuesday with makeup slalom and giant slalom races from Week 1 at Alpine Valley. Race time is 4:00 p.m.

Additionally, Alpine Valley Southeastern Michigan Ski League (SEMSL) divisional championships have been moved from Thursday this week to Wednesday, February 8.
