Marian to host opening rounds of CHSL Boys Basketball tournaments

Bloomfield Hills, MI – Marian High School will once again play host to the Catholic High School League (CHSL) boys basketball tournament preliminary rounds.

Marian will host the quarterfinal round of the Bishop Division tournament on February 10 with games at 11:00 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 2:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. involving Central Division schools.

In addition to highly touted new Central division members Toledo Central Catholic, Toledo St. John and Toledo St. Francis de Sales, the league boasts five Michigan schools, all ranked in the top 15 of the most recent MLive state rankings. Orchard Lake St. Mary's (No. 2), University of Detroit Jesuit (No. 8), Brother Rice (No. 9), Detroit Catholic Central (No. 10) and Warren De La Salle (No. 15) are all expected to compete when the seedings are released next week.

On February 13, Marian will host the Bishop Division semifinals at 5:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Winners will advance to the Bishop Division championship at Calihan Hall on the campus of the University of Detroit Mercy on February 17 at 7:00 p.m.

The Cardinal Division semifinals will also be held at Marian on February 14, also at 5:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. The Cardinal Division final will be played at 2:00 p.m. at Calihan Hall on February 17. Riverview Gabriel Richard (No. 19 in MLive poll) is expected to compete. 


Our own Mustangs will also find out their seeding based on regular season finish in the Central Division next week.

The opening quarterfinal of the girls Bishop Division Tournament will be held next door at Brother Rice High School, also on February 10. Quarterfinal game times are identical to the boys Bishop Division listed above. 

Ann Arbor Fr. Gabriel Richard (No. 5) is the only CHSL squad to break the most recent MLive top 25. 

Bishop Division semifinals will again be held at Detroit Catholic Central High School on February 13 at 5:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.

The Bishop Division championship will be held at Calihan Hall February 17 at 5:00 p.m.
