Mustangs to Host Middle School Volleyball Clinic to Benefit the Side-Out Foundation

BLOOMFIELD HILLS – The Marian High School Athletic Department announced today a charity volleyball clinic for middle school-aged girls on November 11.

Winners of the last three consecutive MHSAA Division 1 volleyball championships, the Mustangs volleyball program has teamed up with the Side-Out Foundation to sponsor a volleyball clinic for any girls currently in grades 6-8.

While the purpose of the clinic will be to help girls learn both individual and team-based skills, all proceeds will benefit the Side-Out Foundation. Side-Out, created by Rick Dunetz focuses on extending the lives of women living with advanced stages of breast cancer. Side-Out focuses on more than just awareness and fundraising, it employs researchers and scientists to actively search for treatment options and cures.

Dunetz was a volleyball coach, himself when his mother Gloria was diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer in 2006. Since then, Dig Pink® volleyball match events have been at the core of fundraising efforts for the Side-Out Foundation across the country. In fact, there have been nearly 10,000 Dig Pink® events held since its inception.

The Marian youth clinic is an extension of the Dig Pink® program. In fact, all proceeds received by Marian will be donated to the Side-Out Foundation to help fund efforts for those surviving with metastatic breast cancer.
