Bio

Patti McDonald was Marian's first outstanding three-sport student-athlete.

A 1979 alumna, McDonald was a standout in basketball, volleyball and softball at Marian just as female sports programs were expanding rapidly across the country after the passage of Title IX.

McDonald matriculated to Iowa State University where she played softball. As a Cyclone, McDonald led the team in triples in 1982 and recorded 15 sacrifices, which is still fourth all-time at ISU.  Following the '82 season, McDonald was named to the Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW) All-Region Team as an outfielder.  As a senior, McDonald was named to the 1983 Big Eight Conference All-Tournament Team.
