Bio

Kathy Phillips will always be remembered as the first cornerstone in what would be decades of prep basketball success at Marian High School.

The 6'3" Phillips was known as a tenacious worker for Coach Mary Lillie-Cicerone's early hoops squads. The 1987 team advanced to the MHSAA Regional Final behind Phillips' all-state skill before dropping a 50-43 decision to Saginaw High School.

Highly recruited, Phillips chose to extend her career following graduation in 1988 at Penn State University. Phillips became an integral part of the Nittany Lions' success as a starter, helping them to an Associated Press (AP) No. 1 ranking during the 1991 season. Phillips would go on to score 1,295 career points and is ranked 14th in career rebounding (717) and 10th in career blocks (89).

Following her graduation from Penn State in 1992, Phillips worked for the NBA's Philadelphia 76ers from 1993-06, spending her final seven years in game operations. With the 76ers, she managed game presentation, including dance team performances and in-arena contests. She also oversaw the implementation of several season ticket holder events, including a 1999 NBA Draft Party and the annual Beach Bash.

Phillips then spent four years as the women's head basketball coach and three years as the sports information director at Penn State-Abington. During her tenure at Abington, Drysdale accumulated a 36-65 record as the women's basketball head coach while juggling sports information duties for 14 varsity sports. In her role as sports information director, she updated the athletics website, headed the department's social media efforts and organized game day set up and all athletics banquets.

In 2011, Phillips returned to her alma mater, where she is responsible for all of the marketing efforts for women's basketball and also works closely with the Nittany Lion Kids Club and Code Blue student rewards program.
